We’re not starting a cult but some followers on Instagram would be nice. Thank you.
If three seasons of Bling Empire is not enough, you’re in luck.
On Jan. 20, Netflix released Bling Empire: New York, the offshoot of its popular reality television series.
Here’s the series synopsis:
“Meet a fresh group of wealthy, sophisticated and hilarious Asian-Americans from New York City, where the quality of real estate is measured by address, not acreage. Conversations are direct, not coded. And competition–for love, for money, and for power–is fierce. Billionaires, CEOs, and fashion icons—it’s a city where you can be anything you want to be.”
TL;DR: You’re basically watching rich Asian-Americans living their slightly dramatised lives in New York.
The new series features new faces as well as familiar names from the original Bling Empire.
Here’s a quick introduction to the entire main cast:
1) Dorothy Wang, 35
Dorothy, 35, is no stranger to reality television series, having starred in Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, Famously Single and Bling Empire S2.
The series starts off with her newly moved to New York as she aspires to “conquer a new city”.
She is the daughter of Chinese-American businessman Roger Wang, the former CEO of real estate firm Golden Eagle International.
According to Forbes, he has a real-time net worth of US$2.5 billion (S$3.3 billion).
2) Tina Leung, 41
Tina, 41, is a fashion stylist and influencer from Hong Kong who apparently started her career in fashion with fashion magazine Prestige.
She has also worked with brands like Michael Kors, Gucci and Bulgari.
Tina is known as one of the “Slaysians”, a group of five Asian-Americans who are high flyers in the fashion world in New York.
3) Stephen Hung, 64
The 64-year-old is a Hong Kong businessman who dabbles in investment banking and real estate.
According to Tatler Asia, he moved to New York in 1977.
He is also the vice-chairman of Rio Entertainment Group and founder of The 13, a luxury hotel chain in Macao.
Hung is married to socialite Deborah Valdez-Hung.
4) Deborah Hung, 39
Deborah, 39, is a Mexican socialite and wife to Stephen.
In the first episode of the series, she revealed that they met in Hong Kong at a Versace fashion show.
She said that Stephen was a client for Versace while she was modelling for them.
Stephen also mentioned in the episode that she was a lawyer by training.
P/s: If you’re here for the drama, the first episode shows some tension between Deborah and Dorothy after the latter was late for the couple’s 10th-year anniversary party. Go grab some popcorn.
5) Richard Chang, 39
According to Netflix, Richard runs a medical group that specialises in alternative medicine.
The 39-year-old is also nicknamed “Chairman Chang” (he didn’t give himself that name, he claims) and has roots in Taiwan.
He is also in a relationship with Vika Abbyaeva, whom he *spoiler alert* attempts to propose to in the final episode.
6) Vika Abbyaeva, 27
Vika, 27, is Richard’s girlfriend.
In the first episode, Richard reveals that she is half-Russian and half-Kalymykian (who are apparently descendants of Genghis Khan).
7) Blake Abbie, 33
Netflix credits Blake as a fashion magazine editor and actor.
The 33-year-old, who is half-Chinese and half-Scottish, is currently the editor-at-large of an indie fashion magazine called “A Magazine Curated By”.
According to IMDB, the Canadian actor appeared in six episodes of Chinese television series Meteor Garden, which stars Dylan Wang, Caesar Wu, Shen Yue and Darren Chen.
8) Lynn Ban, 50
Lynn Ban is a couture jewellery designer who calls big names like Rihanna and Beyonce her clients.
She is married to former MTV producer Jett Kain and is a mother to a teenage son.

According to The Straits Times, David launched Genki Sushi in Singapore and Hong Kong.
While Lynn lives in New York, her parents are living in Orchard in Singapore.
9) Nam Laks, 28
According to Netflix, she is the so-called “Blair Waldorf of Thailand”.
The 28-year-old is the daughter of Nakorn Laksanakarn, a Thai businessman who is the former CEO of real estate developer Natural Park PCL.
She is taking her Master’s degree at Columbia University.
